We Touched
I danced between the thorns
you had wrapped around
your heart.
A cold armor,
a safe cage.
For with love,
in your past,
had come pain.
But my eyes pierced
the lonely cell
of your heart.
And my gentle touch
picked the lock
of your caged soul.
And with the alchemy
of burning need-
I pricked off the thorns,
releasing.
I warmed up the ice,
dissolving.
And in a flood
of emotion,
we touched each other.
